BOXES

I need some boxes for a good friend of mine that is getting a divorce. She is trying to move out as fast as possible and needs probably 10-15 boxes. If you can help out that would be much appreciated. I can pick them up at your house and if you want to leave them on your front porch then that is great too! Leave a comment if you can help! Thanks!!! Michelle Hall

Joyschool, Values Parenting, and the Eyres

I went to the most amazing parenting fireside/discussion last Sunday. It was quite a drive, just above the zoo, but so nice to get out, have a break, and talk about our most important calling in life - being parents and teaching kids. It was actually titled, "Raising Great Children in a Daunting World." Amazing! It was taught by Richard and Linda Eyre. The Eyres are so amazing! They truly are wonderful, kind, fun, humble people. I don't know who is or isn't familiar with there many bestselling books and with Joyschool. If you aren't, hop on one of their websites http://www.valuesparenting.com/ and http://www.theeyres.com/ check them out! They are truly gifted in the area of parenting. They invented Joyschool, which I did when I was little, along with several other programs such as "The Happy Family" and "Teaching Kids Values" Every single piece of information is wonderful. They are also very warm and friendly people.
We all discussed several things such as teaching your children how to set and reach goals, how to talk to your kids about sex (funnily our very favorite part by the way - there's a ton of info on the website, as well as a dialogue coaching you along this important discussion. They also wrote a book about it, and the older parent there that had read it all raved about it and about their experiences with their own children during this very special and important conversation), teaching kids values, leading by example, etc. Tons of information and the discussion really just took off!
At the discussion I felt like I was just a part of their huge family because they truly took me in, taught me, listened to my questions, concerns, and opinions, and also shared tons of knowledge, wisdom, and insight with me. They have apparently done several of these firesides, and I was so bummed I didn't find out about them earlier! But they are having one more, the last Sunday in March. They bumped up the time because this one is going to be more geared towards children under 8. They provide childcare there if you need to take your kids. The topic is "Teaching Your Children Joy." Going to see them speak would be an amazing opportunity for anyone - they speak all over the world and are very well-known.
Wes came with me to this "Eyreside" (non-denominational by the way). I think he came to be with me more than to actually go, even though he was curious. But he loved it, he's visited their website several times this week, and talked about them daily since. He was in utter and total awe of them - they are really that neat. We are so excited to instigate some of these new things on our family, read the books, set goals together, and have these resources for our entire parenting career.
I also noticed that their book, "Teaching Children Values" is $4 on Amazon right now! It's really a great book, I am reading it right now.
I just thought I'd throw all this out there for anyone who wanted to know. I am definitely planning of going next month, and I truly cannot wait! So grab you hubby or a girlfriend and meet us there. You will absolutely love it!
Love, Megan Stewart

I have been meaning to talk to everyone in regards to a nutritional liquid drink & awesome business opportunity that I have been taking and are involved in and just haven't gotten around to it until....NOW. So here it is.

Approximately 3 months ago my sister in law Stephanie asked us if we would be interested in trying Exfuze 7 plus, which is a liquid nutritional drink that is made from seven organic exotic fruit extracts and tastes like grape juice on Brandon and see how it works on him. We said yes, and have been using the product in our family since.

As you already know, our son Brandon struggles with Autism and has numerous problems associated with this disorder. We have tried every diet, homeopathic remedy, prescription medication, therapies, counseling, etc. to try and help him be more happy and healthy, more focused and successful at school, have more friends and be better understood. All of those efforts, treatments and medications have helped but they haven’t been “the answer” in our search to fully help Brandon be as happy, healthy and productive as we would like him to be. Since he has been taking Exfuze he has had the ability to be more focused, he no longer has his “twitches”. His teachers have commented in one way or another about how he is able to focus and control his body. He is more happy, healthy and more productive than he has been in the past. We now feel like we are moving forward. We have also noticed big changes in Justin. Starting in January he started having stomach pain that would not resolve, medication after medication, doctors visit after doctor’s visits and test after test a diagnosis could not be found. Since taking Exfuze Justin is pain free and is really excelling at school. His teachers have noticed such an improvement in his willingness to try and are not so hyper and can focused and willing to do more on his schoolwork. He has also been sleeping through the night, which he has gone over a month without sleep. We have also noticed many benefits in ourselves like more energy and focus, less stress, better sleeping habits, not getting sick nearly as much, overall better health, mental awareness, I have noticed that it has been easier to lose weight and when I work out recovery seems a lot easier. I have just barely started it on Jake. I wanted him to have his yearly testing done first and then start him on it and six months when he goes back to the dr I want to see how things have changed. I could go on and on about testimonies that we have seen from other family members that have been on it including my brother in laws 102 year old grandpa. Bottom line… I am the world’s biggest natural skeptic and this REALLY WORKS!!!!

I am having a Better Health and Wellness Presentation at my home on Saturday February 28, 2009 at 4:30 PM. I would love for you to come and learn more about this awesome product. They have also come out with Exfuze Pro for those of you who are athletic or just like to be active. I personally have not tried it yet; it has just barely come out but have heard from my brother in law that it has been awesome for athletes. So please come I would love to teach you more!! If this date and time does not work for you call me.

Also if you have questions call me 801-623-9179.

Thanks!

Jennifer Lesieur

Infertility etiquette

If you want to. On the blog, The R House, she has posted an article about infertility and the etiquette involved. Not that many people have been insensitive, or nobody knowingly has said hurtful things, I just wanted to shed some light on this article because I think it is excellent. The article she posts is very good. It explains some of the feelings that I have felt and loved ones have felt. I know my biggest pet peeve is when people at Church start bugging us about children. They figure that since my youngest is 2 (almost) that we should be on this plan to have more kids because...it's just time I guess.

I will state that 90% of the time I am OKAY. Don't feel bad for me. I have had time to understand and come to grips with how things are for me. But the pain is still there, sometimes stronger than at other times. Maybe this article will help with other people in your life. It helps me describe the feelings I have had. Maybe you will enjoy it. Don't be offended. I just came across it and felt like I needed to share it.

Here is the article if you are interested. Just a few things to think about when you are around people with fertility problems.

The only thing I want to add is when we decided to adopt, it was hard. But our little Brooklyn is sooo much like us that we don't even consider her adopted at all. To us, it is just a term for how she got to be apart of our family. She was born in our hearts and Kenzie was born inside of me. It is all the same to me so if anyone wants to adopt or is struggling with the decision, we are more than happy to talk to you. We love the process.

Thanksgiving Point Gardening Workshop

Each year Thanksgiving Point does 3 gardening workshops. I went to 2 of them and they are amazing! The cost is $5/class (1 hour classes)and goes from 9am-2pm on Feb. 28 (Sat.). I don't know when the dates for the other 2 workshops are, but last year there was one in March and in April. You have to call Thanksgiving Point to register or you can do it online. Go to www.thanksgivingpoint.com then click on learn then go to horitculture and it will show the workshop. The classes are taught by Master Gardeners. So, if you are a beginner gardener or advanced these classes really are catered to all levels. Check it out! I'll be there so you already have a buddy to go with. :)

Biggest Loser Rules

IT ISN'T TOO LATE TO JOIN!!! Just read over the rules and let me know ASAP if you want to jump in!

Hey all!

We have officially started! I appreciate all of you who came and gave input on what you wanted out of this program and competition. Here are the rules and what was discussed:

1. Program dates: January 20-April 28th.
2. Everyone brings $5 to each meeting. Meetings are Tuesdays at 7pm at my house (3532 Heyward). If you can't make the meeting, you still owe $5. Whomever loses the highest percentage of weight for the week doesn't have to pay $5. Option: Mary suggested we pay for a month in advance that way there is more motivation to stick through it and not drop out. Can everyone bring enough money to do this for next time and then we'll get some feedback if some of you disagree?
3. You MUST email me your current weight tomorrow (Wed., Jan. 21) before midnight. Then email me each Tuesday before our meeting. Failure to do so results in a 1 lb. penalty and forfeiture of winning for the week (even if you do lose the most weight for the week). We are going by 1/10 of a pound. Ex. I lost 3.4 lbs. this week. My email is michellehall44@yahoo.com
4. There will be a challenge each week. If you complete the challenge for each week then you take $1 off what you owe for the week. For example, if you did the challenge then you would only owe $4 instead of $5. Our challenge for this week is to get 1/2 hour of exercise everyday minus 1 day. We will keep this challenge every week and add a new challenge so that we are constantly challenging ourselves and trying new habits.
5. Each week there will be a mini 10-15 min. lesson on a health topic. We will rotate people to teach this each week. Mary is going to teach it this coming week.
6. Try and bring a recipe or cooking idea each week that worked well for you.
7. We will have a "gripe session" each week. So, if you are struggling...that is ok...that is why we are here...to help!
8. If you would like to stay after the meeting, we will watch Biggest Loser afterwards. No obligations though. Really. :)
9. We have started a blog. If you sign up then I will give you access to it. It will give helpful recipes, ideas and how everyone is doing.
10. There will be a winner each month for whomever has the highest percentage of weight loss for the month. That winner will receive 25% of the pot for the month. So, there will be winners for Feb (Jan and Feb. are rolled into 1 month), March and April. That way, we stay motivated.

HERE WE GO!!!! GAME ON!!!
Good luck this week. I have a bike, eliptical and treadmill and some free weights if anyone wants to work out with me. I work out in the mornings because I am waaaayyy too tired to work out in the evenings. Let me know!

  • To have good sportsmanship!
  • Referee responsibility

Things that will stay the same:

*20-minute halves with a running clock, except for the last 2 minutes of the game. The clock will stop unless the spread is more than 10 points.

*You are required to provide a ref for the game after your game. Last game refs the first game.

*You are allowed three 60-second timeouts and two 30-second timeouts per game.

Stake Scoring System

Each week you will receive points for the following:

Free Squash

I have an over abundance of squash from my garden this year and I can't seem to eat it all! So, come by my house and take some! I will leave it on the front porch so take 1 or take all. If I don't have any on my porch then it must mean they were all taken. FYI: squash can keep up to 4 months after you pluck it from it's stem so that is why I still have some from my garden.

It is spaghetti squash. It is VERY yummy used as noodles for spaghetti.
